Shealyn Biron is a Los Angeles–based Costume Designer with over 10 years of experience shaping characters across film, television, music videos, and games. She holds two degrees from FIDM—one in Fashion Design and another in TV & Film Costume Design—alongside a degree in Business Management from the University of Phoenix.
Shealyn has been a part of James Cameron’s Avatar Franchise as a member of the costume department for the past seven years, where she was promoted to Assistant Costume Designer for Avatar: Fire and Ash following the release of Avatar: The Way of Water. Her career has spanned independent films, studio productions, music videos and video games, with collaborations ranging from small creative teams to visionary studios like Disney and Lightstorm Entertainment.
As an artist, Shealyn is dedicated to understanding every facet of costume design—from illustration and fabrication to the meticulous study of craft traditions. Her time in New Zealand with Weta Workshop inspired a deep passion for handicraft and artisanal practices, which she sees as vital to preserving the artistry of adornment in an increasingly mass-produced world. For Shealyn, slow, methodical making is not only a discipline but also a form of resistance and celebration of the human touch behind costume.
Beyond the studio, Shealyn finds escapism and creative renewal in LA’s underground club culture. She uses this space to experiment with new techniques, create bold designs, and connect with a community that values transformation and expression. These explorations allow her to stretch as both an artist and designer, reminding her of the joy, rebellion, and storytelling power at the heart of costume.
