Portfolio Illustrations & Techniques

This page begins where my career began: in my grandma’s basement, learning to sew. From that moment, costume craft became the foundation of my practice — a pursuit of techniques that shape how stories are told through what we wear. That early spark grew into a lifelong passion: not only designing, but mastering the full spectrum of processes behind costuming. Here I share my ongoing study of costume craft across both traditional and experimental practices, tracing the full arc from initial sketches to material construction and collaborative production. My work spans techniques old and new, reflecting how design evolves through research, making, and cultural influence. My aim is to honor historic methods while embracing modern innovations — keeping the art of adornment alive as both tradition and experimentation.

Fiber Arts

Fiber arts explore techniques like crochet, knitting, and weaving, where threads are looped, knotted, or interlaced to create form and texture. These methods add dimension, softness, and tactile storytelling to costume craft.

Handicraft

Handicraft is the study of handmade techniques—such as lacemaking, embroidery, beading, and leatherwork—that bring nuance and history into costume design. These artisanal methods preserve tradition while adding detail, texture, and individuality that cannot be achieved through mass production.

Club Kid - Underground Fashion

This body of work celebrates the raw, expressive world of underground fashion — a space where self-invention and performance collide. Rooted in the legacy of club kids, drag culture, and DIY couture, these looks reject convention and embrace excess, identity play, and transformation. Outside of structured, narrative-driven projects, this practice keeps me connected to the pure act of creation — radical self-expression through making. It’s the side of my work that reminds me why I fell in love with costume design: the power of dress to provoke, liberate, and build identity through craft.

Concept Exploration

The early stage of costume design where ideas are tested and visual direction is defined—exploring silhouettes, materials, and references to establish the narrative and practical foundation for final designs.

Costume Illustration

Costume illustration translates design ideas into visual form, capturing silhouette, texture, and character through drawing and rendering. It bridges concept and fabrication, providing a clear vision that guides directors, producers, and makers alike.

Art Outsourcing Notes

This page highlights the visual and artistic notes created for vendors in my role as Assistant Costume Designer. These notes translate the design team's vision into clean, actionable guidance - combining concise direction with visual references to ensure costumes are constructed accurately and true to the creative intent. The ability to give precise and accurate notes is an essential skill for a well-rounded designer.

Garment Construction

Garment construction is the process of building costumes through patterning, cutting, and stitching, transforming design into physical form. It is where technical precision and craftsmanship bring a character’s wardrobe to life on the body.
